FAQs

What is the Colorado Association for Recycling (CAFR)?

CAFR is a nonprofit professional organization working to promote and encourage recycling through programs that educate the public, local governments, businesses, and Colorado's elected officials. Through our programs, events, and membership, we bring together the most dynamic individuals, schools, businesses, and government entities working on improving recycling and reducing waste in Colorado.

What does CAFR do?

Through our Board of Directors, various committees, and active members, we produce a variety of events and programs. Our annual conference, the Summit for Recycling, assembles a wide array of speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, and participants, representing the broad diversity of professionals involved in and concerned about materials management. At the Summit, we host workshops and educational sessions, keeping industry attendees up-to-date.

One of our most important services is our Membership Directory, which provides Coloradans with an extensive, searchable database through which to identify recycling service providers and related products.

In addition to the Summit, CAFR produces an Annual Members Meeting, a recycling Poster Contest that creates educational opportunities for students and teachers, and Board Meetings across the state that are open to the public and often include an opportunity to tour a local member facility.

CAFR partners with an array of organizations to promote related events and grant opportunities, and we support a strong legislative lobby with timely updates from the Capital and the latest in recycling news.

Who are CAFR members?

Members of CAFR range from individuals with a passion for recycling to large corporations who make materials management their business and everyone in between! Professionals in the recycling and materials management industries join independently or through a company membership to stay abreast of rapid changes in the industry, access educational and networking opportunities, and to learn who their peers and resources are. Businesses join to gain exposure and a ready audience for their products and services, as well as for the learning opportunities. Schools and nonprofit institutions join for many of the same reasons. Many of our members participate simply because we keep them so well informed of the rapid changes in these industries.
